What is RF Microneedling?

Radiofrequency Microneedling is a leading treatment for fine lines, skin tightening, and facial rejuvenation. It lifts, tones, and tightens skin with RF energy while also boosting collagen and elastin production for skin resurfacing with microneedling techniques.

The cosmetic procedure is a minimally invasive treatment and is considered safe and effective for all skin types, making it an excellent alternative to chemical peels and dermabrasion treatments.

How does RF Microneedling work?

Microneedling is a form of controlled skin injury. Using tiny needles, the treatment creates micro-wounds to act as channels on the skin’s surface. This stimulates the body’s natural healing response, prompting the production of new collagen to promote skin resurfacing.

Microneedling with radiofrequency energy means that as each channel is created, the microneedling device also releases RF energy to gently heat the deeper layer of skin. This spurs additional collagen and elastin growth so as the skin grows back, the surface will naturally thicken and tighten.

As such, RF Microneedling is an excellent solution to:

What is the RF Microneedling treatment procedure?

Before your procedure, you’ll attend a consultation, where your aesthetician will review your medical history, address questions and expectations, and take photos of your face to determine which technique is best for treating your condition.

The RF Microneedling procedure begins with the aesthetician cleansing your skin and applying a topical numbing cream.

After the topical numbing cream takes effect–usually 30 minutes to an hour–the aesthetician will begin using the RF microneedling device to create the micro wound channels as the needle tip releases radiofrequency energy into the skin.

Treatment time varies amongst skin types and depends on the condition being treated and the size of the treatment area. Typically, RF Microneedling takes 25 to 60 minutes pending on the size of area being treated. At the end of the cosmetic procedure, the aesthetician applies a supportive solution for cell regeneration and a soothing mask to ease discomfort.

Most RF Microneedling treatments are done as a 4-part series.

What can I expect after my RF Microneedling treatment?

No downtime is required for microneedling with radiofrequency; patients can resume normal activities immediately.

After treatment, it’s common to experience some minor redness and irritation that should clear up within a day. You can use ice packs and cold compresses to reduce swelling, and you should be diligent about using SPF lotion to protect your skin from sun damage.

When will I see the results?

Some results are visible within a few days of receiving microneedling with radiofrequency, with further results developing as new, rejuvenated skin grows and fills in. The overall effects such as skin tightening and reduced acne scars will continue to appear gradually and are usually fully visible within 3-6 months.

RF Microneedling results typically last 12-18 months.
