What Types of Incontinence Do You Treat?
Emsella is FDA approved to treat the following types of urinary incontinence:
- Stress incontinence – which includes urine leakage while exercising, performing physical activity, sneezing, laughing, or coughing. This type of incontinence is most common in women who have given birth.
- Urge incontinence – which includes sudden and strong urges to urinate, including leaking urine. This type of incontinence is most often a symptom of age or overactive bladder.
How Does it Work?
Emsella utilizes high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM), which works by inducing supramaximal muscle contractions in your pelvic floor. The treatment stimulates the various muscles of the pelvic floor, helping to restore neuromuscular control. Supramaximal contractions are forced muscle contractions at a rate of approximately 11,000 contractions per Emsella session – that’s equivalent to doing 11,000 Kegel exercises in about than 30 minutes!
Emsella focuses on the pelvic floor, ensuring that all of your muscles are strengthened equally. Which helps to rehabilitate weakened pelvic muscles and restore neuromuscular control – allowing you to get back to your life without the worries associated with urinary incontinence.
A typical treatment lasts only 30 minutes. During the procedure, you may experience slight tingling and pelvic muscle contractions. After the procedure, you may resume daily activities immediately. Though you may observe improvement after just one session – results typically improve over weeks.
